IN MEMORY OF DR. MAYA ANGELO

In Loving Memory Of Dr. Maya Angelou

Dr. Maya Angelou was one of my favorite poets, she was a very inspiring person who had many talents that God gifted her with-yes truly Dr. Angelo is going to be miss by so many people from around the world.

THIS IS ONE OF HER FAMOUS POEMS THAT SHE WAS WELL KNOWN FOR AND IT’S ALSO ONE OF MY FAVORITES.

Phenomenal Woman

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It’s the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can’t touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can’t see.
I say,
It’s in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I’m a woman

Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It’s in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
‘Cause I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE 1930’s, 40’s 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s

fifities

First we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn’t get tested for  Diabetes

Then after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-paints. we had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors, or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking

As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags. Riding in the back of a pickup on a warm day was always a special treat

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle, we shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank soda pop with sugar in it, but we weren’t overweight because WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING

We would leave home in the morning play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on

No one was able to reach us all day, and we were OK.  We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes-  a

after running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem

We did not have PLAYSTATIONS, NINTENDO’S X-BOXES no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, no video tapes movies, no surround sound no cell phones, no personal computers, no internet or internet chat rooms…WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them

We fell out of trees, got cuts, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.   We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt and the worms did not live in us forever.  We were given BB guns for our 10th birthday, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told what will happen, we did out put our very many eyes

We rode bikes or walked to a friend’s house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them.  Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team-those who didn’t had to learn to deal with disappointment—Imagine that!.  The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was un-heard of they actually sided with the law.  This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!  The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL

you might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated our lives for our own good, and while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave their parents were!

This was written by our buildings Coordinator –Ms.Tarrie F. She read this to us at our Residents-October Birthday Party ………..

This is Dorothy she lives in the same building that I live in. Dorothy and I attend the same church service here in our building-Dorothy had a stock a few years ago but she doesn’t let that stop her- I have become very found of her.  One day I mention to Dorothy that I have learn to make shawls-and that most likely I will be giving them away, she replied I like to have one, so of course I made one for her—in return she made me one which I was not looking for her to make one for me because I really don’t wear them I just like making them, to make a long story short the shawl is very pretty and I am very grateful to call her friend…..

WORDS OF WISDOM

**Words of Wisdom from one with Knowledge.**

For whomever needs this today: Just something to think about…Did you know the people that are the strongest are usually the most sensitive? Did you know the people who exhibit the most kindness are the first to get mistreated? Did you know the one who takes care of others all the time are usually the ones who need it the most? Did you know the 3 hardest things to say are I love you, I’m sorry, and Help me. Sometimes just because a person looks happy, you have to look past their smile and see how much pain they may be in. To all my friends who are going through some issues right now–Let’s start an intention avalanche. We all need positive intentions right now. If I don’t see your name, I’ll understand. May I ask my friends wherever you might be, to kindly copy and paste this status for one hour to give a moment of support to all those who have family problems, health struggles, job issues, worries of any kind and just need to know that someone cares. Do it for all of us, for nobody is immune. I hope to see this on the walls of all my friends just for moral support. I know some will!! I did it for a friend and you can too. You have to COPY & PASTE this one, NO SHARE BUTTON PLEASE
